The Foresters’ Association Chitwan was established with the aim of fostering mutual harmony, sharing experiences, and strengthening brotherhood among forestry technicians who have permanent residence in Chitwan District and the Gaindakot area of Eastern Nawalparasi. The association brings together individuals who have at least a Proficiency Certificate Level or higher academic qualification in forestry and environmental science, and who are currently employed in government or non-government services, retired, or working independently in the forestry and environmental sector.

The organization seeks to identify and coordinate contemporary challenges and opportunities in forest, wildlife, environment, watershed, and biodiversity conservation and management. By utilizing the knowledge, skills, and capacities of its members, the association contributes to the overall development of the forestry and environmental sector through constructive engagement.

The organization was officially registered at the District Administration Office, Chitwan on 2067/04/17 B.S. (August 2, 2010 A.D.), and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council on 2067/09/13 B.S. (December 28, 2010 A.D.).

Focusing on the conservation of forests, wildlife, environment, watersheds, and biodiversity, the association also prioritizes:

  • Research and advocacy on climate change impacts and adaptation strategies

  • Public awareness and environmental education

  • Sustainable forest management planning

  • Income generation and livelihood improvement through wise use of forest resources

  • Forest governance and integrated resource management

Initially offering technical services and facilitation in the Chitwan and Nawalparasi districts on a volunteer basis, the organization has now expanded its scope to serve nationwide

Goal

To contribute to the holistic development and management of Nepal’s forest resources by conserving forests, wildlife, environment, watersheds, and biodiversity.

Mission

To transfer knowledge, skills, and appropriate technologies to communities and stakeholders for the conservation and sustainable management of forests, wildlife, environment, watersheds, and biodiversity through the technical expertise and adoption of practical forest technologies by forestry professionals.

Vision

To build an environmentally friendly and prosperous society through balanced and sustainable management of forests, wildlife, environment, climate change, watersheds, and biodiversity.

Objectives of the Organization

  1. To operate as a non-political, non-profit, and public welfare-oriented organization.

  2. To promote professional and emotional bonds among its members, encouraging the optimal use of their knowledge, skills, and experiences to identify, develop, and expand initiatives related to the conservation and proper management of forests, wildlife, environment, watersheds, and biodiversity through integrated efforts.

  3. To collaborate with governmental, non-governmental, and international organizations involved in natural resource management, aiming to expand relationships and contribute to poverty reduction through sustainable resource management.

  4. To support applied research and foster collaborations with various organizations to enhance the effectiveness of activities related to the conservation, management, and equitable distribution of benefits from forests, wildlife, environment, watersheds, and biodiversity.

  5. To carry out constructive initiatives for the collective benefit of the organization’s members.
